Malaysian Carnival 2008

Selamat Merdeka 51 !!!
We celebrate national day too!!!

Early this morning, we headed all the way to Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre at Brickendonbury to celebrate this momentous occasion of Malaysia's 51th independence. Not only did we take 15mins tube and an hour car ride to this place, we also spent quite some money at the carnival. I quite love my country, eh??

The crowd, the stalls, the food, the flag and most of all, the 'kiao' and the 'Manglish' had simply built up the Malaysian atmosphere. Not to mention the weather, as you can see from the picture above, it's really SuNNY!!! Almost got me to forget that I'm not in Malaysia.

Know what?? There were various malaysian food selling at the stalls, and are often sold at very HIGH price.. *shake head* I think the people here really love satay.. Believe it or not, I queued for abt 30mins, just to get 15 satays for £12!! (Not me, I helped someone to get it.)

As it was near the ending, everyone's 'throwing' their food like hell.. the price dropped dramatically!! From 1 for £5, to 1 for £3, and eventually 2 for £5. I was helping my aunt's friend to sell her Soya Bean Milk and MAN, I really shouted my butt off like a freak to get the remaining sold out!! I am so proud of myself grabbing things at very cheap price during that time. 5 packages of Maggi Mee for £5, and my aunt got a basket of fruits for £1. HAHAHA.. So happy :)

*skip the raffle (lucky draw) and various programmes*

*UK has very beautiful countryside....love it*

It was really a lot of fun there. It's really nice to have met so many people there. There was a foochao lady approached to me and said,
"Are you from Sibu?".... bla bla bla
"This is my first time here".. bla bla bla...
"Oh dear, it's so nice to meet people from the same place here."
Then she murmured to me with grin on her face,
" OHHH, no one knows what we're talking about." hehehehe..
I went totally -_-"""

I had quite a lot of spicy food today, fingers crossed, I don't want sore throat tomorrow.

Devotional

I read this passage in the morning, and I felt that God spoke to my heart through the words. Take some time to read this, you may get something too.

[Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother. ]—Psalm 131:2

The great cathedrals of Europe are not only breathtaking but intriguing in their architecture. Because their massive ceilings were too heavy for the walls to support, flying buttresses, or external extensions, were built to support the expansive roofs.

Although we are “the temple of the living God” (2 Cor. 6:16), I wonder if we are not more like these cathedrals, with buttresses of external influences holding us up while we remain weak at the core. Pastors, friends, rules, books, and small groups are helpful to support and bolster our faith. But if we depend too heavily on them, they can actually distract us from developing a healthy heart for God.

Our heart is the place where God meets and relates to us personally. It’s where He allows us to respond to His correction. Spending time in His Word and in prayer opens the door for Him to interact with us at the deepest levels of our need and gives Him opportunities to comfort and convict. As we open our hearts to Him, He fans the flame of an intimate, life-changing relationship.

Authentic Christianity is the inside-out expression of this dynamic relationship with Jesus that provides the strength to live for His glory—regardless of what is happening on the outside! — Joe Stowell

Speak, O blessed Master,
In this quiet hour;
Let me see Thy face, Lord,
Feel Thy touch of power. —Grimes

When you open your heart to the Savior, He opens your mind to His Word.

Royal Albert Hall --- BBC Proms

One of the highlights that I've done recently -- I went to BBC Proms at my ideal hall. Little did I know that this Proms does not mean the Proms with dance and party, but watching the orchestra live.

Prom 45:
Harvey, Messiaen & Varèse
. Tuesday, 19 August, 2008 - 7:00PM
BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra
Ilan Volkov conductor

As I said, the hall is really HUGE, with this fantastic and fine structure inside the hall. The building is perfectly designed to modify the sound into better quality and transmit it to every part of the hall, acting like a big musical instrument. It is just like entering the 'electroacoustic' sound-world. No matter where you sit or stand, you will receive the same frequency as if you are standing in front of the stage. Photograph is not allowed in the hall, so if you want to see how it looks inside, kindly visit www.royalalberthall.com

I had a great night listening to one of the greatest performance in Britain. Symphony Orchestra it is, in which performing a long piece of music, usually with four movements. The concert features two works by one of the earliest pioneers of electronic music, and that was my first time listening to electronic music LIVE. Never did I know that Piano could perform in such way, nor that I know about how the electronic music is produced. It is really amazing!

For those who enjoy Digital Surrounding Sound Effect, Royal Albert Hall is definitely the place that you are looking for.
Cheers :)

I go out play play!! -- cousin's visit

I only get to go out to these tourist destination after a week in London. My cousin from Sunderland arrived London with her friend from Sibu, that's why I had the opportunity. I am a super saver, so I didn't really spend a penny to visit these area besides transport fee.

12.8.08
Natural and History Musuem
Admission free!
I thought this is where the movie 'Night At the Musuem' was filmed. I kept promoting this museum to my cousin and convinced my sister to bring us there, and I turned up so lame when we arrived. Little did I know they are not fond of musuem, that kind of bored them.

Oxford Street

Royal Albert Hall
I love this hall so much. It is drop-dead gorgeous. I have been wanting to visit this since I know it's existence. It is just opposite Royal College of Music (RCM), the sch I wanted to enter, and behind Imperial College London. It is now having a daily BBC proms at night but I guess you need a partner who can dance. I am so afraid of sia-soi-ng here.

13.8.08

Trafalgar Square - National Gallery

Buckingham Palace

Queen Victoria Memorial

Dont know what this called. There were quite a number of this type of people. I'm not sure if they feel comfortable because camera can't stop snapping. There was even a long queue for taking photo with them. They couldn't have any facial expression whatever happens, but they do march occasionaly to warm up. Almost all of them look young in teenage, and the elder ones could walk around, observing them. Quite pity huh..

St. James Park

Big Ben & Houses of Parliament

Tower Bridge

Don't know what this called either! This is the building I like the most. It is so attractive that I couldn't get my eyes off it everytime I look at it. It's quite a pity that we couldn't find it's exact location, so I took a picture from a distance.

Touring around London can be really fascinating. The tourist attractions in London are always filled up. You could heard a lot of different languages around you when you are in London, and that's what make it a massive and multi-nation city.. 3 years I will be here, so wait up.. I will be there.

Saturday dinner

Aunt's friends, Iris, was really hospitable to invite us over her place at North London to have barbecue dinner. There wasn't a single person who came without holding present on their hands. I guess it's the tradition over here. So, we grabbed a pot plant for her.

My aunt had been very kind to offer her three pair of hands. So we had to take early tube and bus there, and it was only 3pm when we arrived. The place around there is very pretty. Here are some photos of Goldens Green.

There were almost 20 of us in the house. Most of us didn't know each other. We couldn't help but squeezing around as the house is way too small for such amount of people.

What we did is to help around in her kitchen. The kitchen is pathetically small, and that's why restaurant business over here never goes bankrupt.

We made these satays all by ourselves and that was my first time making satay. I was told that it costs minimum 1 pound for just a single stick. I told myself if I ever go unemployed in the future, why not come to Britain and sell satay? Oh goody, they love satay!

Despite that first time, I had the opportunity to taste Angmo's ABC for the first time as well. The lady below is from Germany. She was damn funny and the kitchen was filled with laughter the moment she made her ABC while me, making my chinese tea. I also learnt that not only chinese have this particular way of calling the westerners(Angmo), we are called something like 'cheng cheong' from their mouth too. And it definitely doesn't mean any good if you hear it here. The houses here are in the typical English style. It is often very quiet and safe in the residential area. The sky was dark when we made our move back. When I say it's dark, you know what time it is. It was raining heavy and the strong wind hit on your face under that condition definitely doesn't feel nice.

I woke up at 7am this morning. Very Happy. A very comforting improvement. :D

The most recent me.

This is the place I go almost everyday----- Camden Town
My School----- University College London (UCL)

Day 1 - Regents Park

Let's the photos speak out my heart. I'm lazy to type right now :)

So it took us approximately 15 minutes walk from aunt's house.

It's a very huge park. It covers almost 1/9 of central London map. We got back at 7pm, when the sky was still bright, like our 5pm. It only turns dark at 9pm, and bright again at 5am. I woke up at 6am again today, not because I was cheated again by the sun, but I'm an early bird. It's Good we don't have rooster around the area, we don't want to hear their crow so early eh? *grin*

Today's plan: A small part of the City.

Malaysia-UK

It was late when I finally finished packing. Last minute packing was indeed, indescribably pathetic. So for those who have not left Kch yet, please pack couple days before if you don't want last minute rush. By the time I was settled and done with my last post, the clock had struck 12.

Heart was heavy and sleep was short, I woke up at 4am to prepare. The airport was quiet when we arrived. Our luggage, 50kg... definitely exceeded the maximum weight allowance -- 20kg per person.. but, we passed the officer.. Thank God.
I was convinced later that night, not to feel hard as I know this is meant for something bigger, and so did I not crying. And then we went in the departure lounge.

13 hours flight wasn't that bad to me. We were lucky there wasn't a lot of passengers so we had the opportunity to enjoy a row of seats. The flight was OK overall despite some really rude steward and stewardess, made me doubt how Malaysia Airlines got voted the most friendly cabin crew in 2007.
.
.
.
.
We were 20 minutes earlier than the estimated time when we arrived Britain's territorial airspace. Knw What ?? I guess Heathrow Airport was having traffic jam that time? We were informed to fly above the airport for 10 minutes before landing. I thought we were the only plane doing that, but if u took a closer look, you could notice that there were 3 or 4 planes doing that too. All of sudden, that looked like we were having some sort of city above the sky like the ones we watch on tv. haha

We were announced landing. I was amazed by the structure of the city looking from the sky before landing. London Heathrow airport is REALLY big!!!! 5 terminals! I didn't take any photo though. Everyone was running so I didnt want to be a freak.

Taste some photos!

The Hardest thing to do

UK, my dream country, my dream world. Few months back I was still hoping the day would come fast. I had been dreaming of things that I would do in that place, thinking of what to bring over.... It all started from a dream.

From looking for Uni to booking the ticket, I am now already standing right in front of the boarding gate. Time will not wait for any of us, for just a second and for any reason. It just flies without notice. And by the time you realise it, it is time for farewell.

I thought I should be excited right now.. I thought I should be thrilled. I told myself before I will not feel anything but feeling happy to leave for the place I have been wanting for. But it seems I couldn't hind my feelings right now but to express it out.

A mixture of excited and sadness it is....

As time comes nearer, happiness seems fading away. My heart is as heavy as I am carrying a big hard stone in my body. It's not the place that I have been living for donkey years.. It's my beloved ones.

YES.. the hardest thing to do is not to leave Kuching, but to leave my family and buddies here. After all, they are the one who are playing a very important role in my life.

I can't do anything now but to be strong and face the world.

Living my life and growing up healthy are what I can do as a return to my parents over here. I will live happy and live a good man over there so dont you guys worry! Words can't explain how much I miss you and love you all even though I do not normally say it out.

Before I leave,
.
.
.
I need to enjoy the last few hours in my room. I will miss my personal queen-sized bed and personal washroom.. hehehe..

*Adios*

To Liancy

To: Liancy

[one student from CM has switch to QS..and i ask him y...he told me actually tis and actually tat..and make the regret feeling stronger a bit...]
[i'm trying to convince myself not to think abt the REGRET word...and pretending how much i love my own course]
前面一句是好的!not to think abt the REGRET word!!
[actually i just only feel it's so interesting..construction man!! Everytime i passed the construction site in kch..i was thinking like..how ppl do tat? playing LEGO~ OMG....]

NOT CHEIF MINISTER。

i owes rmb wat michelle told me
BE PROUD OF WHAT U HV CHOSEN!!
